When you send VA Graphics .com your photos for photo restoration, photo retouching or photo enhancing, send the highest resolution bitmap image file with the least amount of bitmap image compression. The best digiital photo bitmap image file formats for photo restoration, photo retouching or photo enhancing are .tiff, .tga, png, .jpg, .psd. Bitmap photo image files in the .gif format are not recommended as they display a total of only 256 colors. Tiff, .tga, png, .jpg, .psd bitmap photo image formats display millions of colors.

Although we prefer you send the original photograph to us to be scanned, you can also send your own scanned image to us by e-mail.

 

Here are some tips for scanning and e-mailing images:

· Preview your scanner settings before finalizing the scanning process.

· Scan original 5x7 or 8x10 photograph at 400dpi (this is a good resolution for restoration and printing).

· For photos smaller than 5x7, scan photo at 600dpi or higher, keeping in mind size of jpeg file once it's saved.

· Look at original photograph to be sure you've gotten the best quality image possible for that photo.

· Save the image as a jpeg file, with the highest quality setting under "image options" in the jpeg pop-up window.

· Because the image is scanned at a high resolution, its final file size will be larger than most images you've uploaded or downloaded on the web.

· Remember, the higher the resolution, the higher the image quality will be.

Sending Original Photo by Priority Mail:
Again, we prefer to scan in the original photos ourselves to be sure we're all happy with the finished product. We've found the best way to send photos is through the US Postal Services Priority Mail. They provide a hard envelope, ensuring the safety of your photo, and it arrives to us in 2 days.

Important Information to Include With Your Order

· Description of what you'd like done to the photo(s)

· Your home address, telephone number, and e-mail address (if you provide an e-mail address, we'll send you a small jpeg of the finished product before we send the original and restored image back to you).

· Payment must be in the form of a personal check, money order, or PayPal. Checks should be made payable to VA Graphics (please include $5 shipping and handling fee).

Whether images are e-mailed or sent through the postal service, payment must be received before work can begin on the restored image.
